Equine-supported healing, nature, purpose, and community

Where Courage Finds Its Way Home.

Reins of Courage is being created as a healing farm for veterans and their families — a place where horses, open land, purpose, and family support come together in courage, trust, dignity, and belonging. Programs are in development.

Reins of Courage is currently in development. Programs and opening dates will be announced as governance, partnerships, and facilities are established.

The need

Some battles continue long after service ends.

The transition home can bring isolation, disrupted routines, stress, grief, and challenges that affect entire families. Reins of Courage is designed around a simple belief: healing should not happen alone.

We do not publish prevalence statistics we cannot verify. What we can say is what we intend to build.

A different kind of place

Five things this place is built on

  • Nature

Open land, seasons, and quiet outdoor space that lower the noise and make room for recovery at a human pace.

  • Purpose

Real work with visible results — planting, tending, building, teaching — so effort turns into something a person can point to.

  • Animals

Calm, structured contact with horses and farm animals, supporting routine, regulation, patience, and trust.

  • Community

Peers, families, and neighbours sharing tasks and meals, so belonging is built through doing rather than explaining.

  • Professional Support

Care planned with licensed professionals, clear boundaries, informed consent, and confidentiality by design.

The COURAGE Framework

Seven pillars, one direction

The framework that will shape every program, published before any program opens.

  • C

    Courage

Rediscover meaning through contribution, learning, stewardship, and service.

  • O

    Outdoors

Use gardens, orchards, animals, and seasonal rhythms to create routine and visible progress.

  • U

    Understanding

Create conditions that support recovery, healthy routines, reflection, and professional support.

  • R

    Respect

Protect confidentiality, consent, transparency, and professional boundaries.

  • A

    Activity

Support movement, rest, nutrition, mindfulness, and whole-person well-being.

  • G

    Growth

Create pathways to mentor, lead, volunteer, and contribute when participants choose.

  • E

    Engagement

Reconnect with peers, family, community, nature, and everyday life.

Programs

Proposed program areas

Each area is a proposal under development with professional advisors. None is currently operating.

Imagine arriving somewhere without sirens, crowds, or judgment. A path through olive trees. Horses in the distance. Fresh air. Work that matters. A shared table. Time to breathe. Reins of Courage is being designed as that place.
